Starr Pilates 

Starr Pilates is a culmination of Kaarin’s extensive knowledge and experience gained throughout her lifelong journey to understand human experience through biomechanics. Years of witnessing clients and students connect with their bodies have provided her with valuable insights into how to help individuals become better engineers of their own movement patterns. The reformer serves as an incredible tool for self-discovery, helping individuals identify areas that require attention and addressing them with compassion and sensitivity. Kaarin believes that our bodies and our internal selves are interconnected, and compartmentalizing them hinders our ability to move and function at our full potential.

 

The classes at Starr Pilates are designed to challenge the body in a healthy and constructive manner. Instead of breaking down the structure, we focus on building it from the ground up. We approach the method with humility and take time to enjoy ourselves in a supportive community while engaging in the practice. Our sacred space, nourished by the confluence of the Methow and Chewuch rivers, provides a conducive environment for learning and growth. Through breathing and movement, we create a space that allows us to explore new possibilities and achieve personal development beyond our wildest dreams.

Kaarin Starr

Kaarin Starr invites you to embark on a journey through her 28-year exploration of movement. Her passion for physical activity and her career led her to discover yoga in college. As yoga gained popularity in the late 1990s, she immersed herself in warm studios, learning from traditional instructors who emphasized the importance of tradition. By the age of 22, Kaarin had become a personal trainer specializing in endurance, gaining experience in both intimate studios and fitness resorts. Committed to continuous learning, she studied nutrition and explored diverse training methods, staying updated with the latest trends in the fitness industry. Kaarin’s deep appreciation for the Pilates Method stems from its ability to enhance various sports and activities, including cycling, running, swimming, and weightlifting. Starr Pilates embodies Kaarin’s dedication and passion for providing exceptional programming to her community and beyond.

In this space, compassion and understanding are paramount, and we firmly reject body shaming and negative self-image. We aim to cultivate a supportive community where everyone feels empowered to learn, make mistakes in a safe and non-judgmental setting, and collectively grow stronger and healthier.
